 MRI / DIAGNOSTICS

DTI, or Diffusion Tensor Magnetic Resonance Imaging, diagnoses traumatic brain injuries at a cutting-edge level. This technology is important in diagnosing traumatic brain injury (TBI), which enables our medical team to isolate malfunctioning areas of the brain.

We are the only practice in South Florida with DTI technology inside our own clinic.

When combined with TBI testing, our Neurologist and Neuropsychologist can properly diagnose and treat these traumatic brain injuries with specific traumatic brain injury rehabilitation.

Research

For older injuries, research indicates that brain injuries exist for longer periods and heal much more slowly than previously believed.

This explains why patients that have suffered a TBI often complain of serious symptoms such as loss of consciousness, headaches, dizziness, anxiety, brain fog, depression, memory loss, confusion, and long after the trauma.

Longer-Term Traumatic Brain Injuries

The US military cooperated with the Washington University School of Medicine (St Louis) to determine the efficacy of the DTI on veterans that had suffered blast-related head injuries in recent military conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. The research showed that the technology was effective in the isolation of brain abnormalities up to and including a year after the initial injury.

Previous MRI technology has not shown damage at such longer-term intervals, and many traumatic brain injuries were therefore prematurely assumed healed. This research indicates that brain injuries exist for longer time periods and may heal much more slowly than previously believed. This may explain why patients that have suffered a TBI often complain of serious symptoms such as loss of consciousness, headaches, confusion, and long after the MRI shows no damage.

This ability to see the damage for much longer periods of time enables us to provide longer-term treatment programs with more options that may potentially help patients reach better outcomes and live a better quality of life.

Our practice is dedicated to helping those with traumatic brain injuries. Whether you are a patient or an attorney representing a person with a serious injury, please call us for help.

Because we are one of the few practices in South Florida with this technology, attorneys and patients alike trust us with their care.
